I use a harbor freight quick hitch. Like most I've seen the top hook can be moved up or down. I want to set the hook to one spot and leave it there. Currently I have 3 implements, a box blade. A trailer hitch that I made and I just got a Titan Ballast box. I set the height for the hook to match the Mahindra Box blade as that was the first Implement I had. I made the trailer hitch to march. Now The Ballast box shows up and the upper link is way off. No Problem, I'm a good hobby fabricator/welder so I can easily alter the Ballast box to fit the spacing I've set, but the question arises, Is there a standard that most implements are set to? I can just as easily modify the other implements to match the Titan. If there is something close to a standard, id like to use that so there is a chance that I won't need to modify every Implement i buy in the future. What do you guys think, is there a standard top hook height?

Thanks!

These charts may assist, although a couple of my implements (made, inexpensively, by our good friends in China) took a wee bit of modification IOT get them to fit.

The top pin height seems to be a moving target with many MFGs. Thank goodness most have conformed to the spread width or quick hitches would not work at all. I have had to modify most of my implements to conform to where I set my quick hitch on the first implement I hooked it to. Unfortunately that implement was not built to spec so now all my implements are non standard on the top pin height. But they all connect and I can't imagine life without my quick hitch.

Hi Wagtail,

Thanks for the charts, but I must be reading them wrong. I'm looking at CAT 1. All 3 charts appear to have different dimensions. The first chart shows Dimension B at 18", the second shows dimension F1 at 14.94 - 15.06. The third shows Dimension N at 14.78 - 14.88. Am I reading these charts wrong?

Thanks!

The top chart shows measurement to the TOP pin not the bottom pin you normally use with a quick hitch.
The second chart shows the measurement to the bottom pin and thats what you need.
3rd or bottom chart shows the measurements for the quick hitch. You would perhaps want your attachments to have just a hair bigger / taller measurement than this for easy hookup.

Very rough measure to on several land pride attachment show mine at roughly 14.75 inch

+1. The only issues I have had is with the top link, thankfully. Just finished modifying a 3PH fork top link, modified and used to permanently carry a 1250+# weight box. Luckily I have a plasma torch which makes it relatively easy to make the mods. Next on the list is a HD rectangular boom pole that needs a bit of modifying.

My hook is currently set at roughly 14.75. I'll stick with that for my standard. The Titan ballast box is about 18". No problem, I'll bust out the tools and modify the top mount on the Titan.

Thanks

I have a Titan ballast box, and found that my hook was too thick to grab it, thus requiring pin removal, and also interfered with the QH itself. I cut some off of my hook, and extended it away from the HF QH another inch (adding more travel upwards for some other implements), and all is well.

The standard ASAE Category I 3 point hitch vertical dimension is 15" from lower pin centerline to upper pin centerline. Plus or minus 1/16" for manufacturing variances.

Don't you want different heights for different implements? Like a hay fork or a dirt scoop needs to tilt as it lifts so you'd use a higher attachment point. A tow frame you want to lift straight so you'd attach the top link lower and more parallel to the bottom link. Seems to me that's a drawback of quick hitches. Am I missing something?
