are their other lower cost options?
Actually I called my Kubota Dealer a few weks ago. I asked for a part number on the fuel filter as I wanted to find out the Micron rating. He replied in a very nasty manner "what, so you can get it at NAPA?".
The truth of the matter is that the original Kubota Filter was significantly cheaper at Kubota than at NAPA. If the Kubota parts guy knew his job, he should have known that!
A business has the right to make money, no argument about that. What annoys me, is that they rape you to the worst extent possible on poprietary parts but show that when push comes to shove, they will undercut the competition if they have to, as in the case of filters. If they are not yet available aftermarket, you are in for a nasty surprise. A fuel filter for my Kawasaki 2002 Diesel MULE is over sixty bucks and not available aftermarket. That is a slap in the face for their customers, if you ask me!
I just bite the bullet and buy filters/fluids from the dealer, mainly to cover my a** if there are any mechanical problems. I don't want to be told something's not covered by warranty because I didn't use "proper" whatever.
