I have an arps backhoe and the relief valve pressure is set at 2025, my tractors relief valve is set at 2500. The backhoes hydrolic valve didn't leak on the 4000 ford it was on but it does on mine. How do I turn the pressure down on my rear remote? or what should I do?

What is the relief setting for the BH according to the manual?

If the pressure is set per manual, leave it as is, and the BH will relieve when the pressure gets to 2025 if that is the correct pressure. If the BH can use more pressure, plug in a gage in a tee at the IN port of the BH and set the relief. It will have more power.

Usually, all the reliefs are set the same as the FEL relief. So if any of the other valves that use system fluid has a pressure above the FEL, it will never go off as the FEL will relieve the fluid for every hyd function.

I will check the relief valve with a gague. I don't understand why the bh leaks on my tractor and didn't on his. The only difference is my tractor has a higher psi. Maybe the relief valve on the bh is bad and letting to much pressure go to the spool valve. That could be it? Am I thinking right, I need to put a tee on the output of the relief valve to make sure the pressure isn't to high?

You set the BH to whatever the manual says.

The tee with hyd gage goes in the IN port of the BH valve. .

If your tractor has say 3000 psi and the BH is rated at 2500 psi, then you would set the BH to 2500 psi, so anytime your BH develops the pressure, it will relieve at 2500 psi.

To check out your BH pressure, add the tee and gage and max out each of the cyl on the BH, both extend and retract.

Check for leaks.

Thanks J_J, I got it now.

It could also be more return line pressure causing the leak. Put a tee in the return line and run the tractor at the RPM you would run the backhoe at with cold oil and read the gauge, you don't need to use the backhoe to read return pressure. cJ
