Is $500 a good price for a Box Scraper

Is 500 bucks a good price for a Woods Box Scraper (NEW)
Model GB 60 (5 FOOT) Standard duty
Weight: 495 lbs 1/4 inch end plates 5 scarifiers

It's main use will be on a Ford 1710 4WD with AG tires,approx 25 HP

I just purchased a 6' heavy duty with 1/2" end plates for 539.00. It is a First Choice Brand, though.

I think I paid about $650 or so,delivered, from my local dealer for a Woods HB60, which is a slightly heavier model with hinged rear gate. I bought it the summer of 2002.

Not knowing much about Box Scrapers. I know my neighbors have a couple but what advantage does a hinged rear gate give you?

They won't fill up and pull your material along. They will distribute and level, good for grading a drive.

I think that's a pretty good price but if you are anywhere near Sweet Tractor - I saw their website yesterday and they have new First Choice boxes (5 foot) for about $400.00 or so.

You're paying for the name, imho. First choice or midwest (made first choice until recently) are quite a bit cheaper and even a bit heavier.
