Welcome to TBN, Ben. My first tractor, which I had for 26 years, was a Ford 1700 4WD. Great tractor - tougher than nails.

Well the 1720 had a mouse chew threw the air filter m, build a nest into the intake and make all kinds of messes. This is long before I ever got my hands on it and it set like this for a long time. I got the engine bored out 40 thousandth of an inch and it is all put back together. I am in need of some information to get it all fine tuned. But the good news is it is running for the first time in over 5 years. It does seem like a nice set up though.

Yes, mice are a PITA. Mine was brand new when I bought it in '82. It had an oil bath air filter - so no problems with the mice there.

Your 1720 is newer and a little bigger than my 1700. Good luck with the tractor - its like an all new machine now.
