Does anyone know if the qa (quick attach) plate on a pt 180 would fit any of the other power tractors., like the 422 or 425?. There are a lot of attachments that I think even the pt180 could handle that are only sold for the others. It curious that the augers that are up to 12" that are available on the 422 & 425 are the same #'s as for the 180.

I don't think so, but a call to Power Trak would confirm.

PT-180 QA plate is a different size then the PT-422/425.

I have heard of one case where a buyer convinced PT to weld a PT180 plate on a PT422/425 attachment. YMMV, since I am sure they will then give you some arguements about warrenty issues caused by overstressing your tractor by non-approved attachments and what-not.

It all depends if you think that you will be able to use a warrenty requiring you to ship your 12000# CUT cross-country at your expense...

I would think that the PT180/PT425 auger head is identical except for the QA plate, so it would make sense that the auger blades have the same part number (but the PT425 auger is $300 more then the PT180 auger, so maybe not... and the PT1430 auger is $600 more then the PT425 auger).

what PT-422/425 attachment are you looking at? Some of the hydraulic attachments requiring an aux hydraulic circuit (4N1 bucket, grapples, mini-hoe, snow-blower, spreader) would require you to modify your hydraulic system to make them work (well documented here in the archives).

The QA plates are not the same. The 180 is intentionally smaller than the T-8 used on the 400/425.

Both the 180 and the 422/425 are 8 GPM PTO systems, but the 180 is rated at 2000 PSI max, while the 422/425 is rated at 2500 PSI. Bottom line is that the 400/425 system will provide more HP and torque to the PTO-driven attachments. I'd question how well the 180 would drive a large auger, for example, in hard clay or rocks.

As mentioned, PT will often put the QA plate from a larger series onto an attachment designed for a smaller tractor. But, I've not heard of them doing the reverse -- i.e. modifying an attachment from a larger tractor to fit a smaller one. The attachments are generally matched to the size of the machine on purpose... Not sure if they'd warranty an attachment modified to work on a different model that did not meet their specs.

I appreciate your help. I 've had my pt 180 3 years now and I ve landscaped most of my acre property with , besides building walkways and patios, and inground pool deck with brick pavers (10,000 in all). Without the power trak, at 60 years old, I never would have been able to do it. So I guessd I kinda know what its caplable of and not. Some of the attachments made for others would not overburden the pt180, two of which I d like to have, the grapple bucket & disc edger.
Im not too worried about warranties at this point. Besides had a problem with the Robin engine the first year and power trac rep basically told me to contact Robin engines tod fix it or I m on my own. Of course then Robin engines told me to contact power trac. Long story short after lots of phone calls I got Robin engines to over haul the engine for free.
Attachments I have are the dirt rock bucket, towing adaptor, tiller, forks and snow blade. I used em all cept for the snow blade which is basically useless...can do a quicker job with the bucket.

It is surprising that PT doesn't sell the disc edger for the PT180, and I am betting that you could easily talk them into making one for you. I am also betting that they would convert a grapple bucket for you as well.

The grapple bucket would require you to add a hydraulic circuit or diverter valve to your PT-180, as a number of other PT owners have done.
