Inter-change ability of Skid Steer Attachments

Since most skid steers now have a Quik attachment system, are they all compatable manufactor to manufactor? I have a Case 85XT w/aux hyd, can I use for example a bushhog for a Bobcat or an auger for a New Holland? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif If it is truely a universal quik attachmanet system it would then be a lot cheaper to rent or borrow the attachments then to buy them. Further can you use the attachments from a skid steer on a FEL (within safety limits of course) and vice versa?

They are not all compatible from mfg. to mfg.

And some can be mounted to FEL, but usually there are reasons not to do it, such as weight, hydraulics needed, etc. But it all depends on the attachment. There are no universal answers either.

My local rental yard will not rent out skid steer attachments without you renting their skid steer along with them. There is a place about 45 minutes away from me who will rent both skid steer and 3-point attachments all by themselves. I have read a few posts here on TBN about people borrowing 3-point log splitters for example and hooking them up to their machines. The thought of doing that or even worse hooking up a hydraulic attachment from a rental yard onto a machine I own would scare me a little. It seems to me that swapping hydraulic fluid like that would be as bad as french kissing a prostitute. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
