I have a PJ Utility trailer duel axle rated 7000lb 14ft with 2ft dove tail total 16ft it is the U8 model with 4 ft removal side rail at the front to load sideways. Well the rails are all bolted into the stake pockets with 3/8 " bolts from the bottom. I have to leave the rail in because the rear load ramp is attached to the side rail when up. There are only 2 extra open stake pockets at the rear of the trailer 1 on each side. So I want to install 2 to 4 D-Rings toward the front 2 on each side. I have bolt on d-rings rated for 11000lbs and would use 3/8" grade 8 course thread as near as I can tell these would be rated for 10000lbs would these be strong enough to tie down my JD2520 w/fel and 655 tiller. I would be using 5/16 g 70 chain
and tighten them with ratchet load binder. Also the d-ring would have to be bolted on sideways making the stress on one side of the ring. I hope I have made my question clear. I could use the weld on d-rings but I would have to find someone to do the welding so would the bolt on ones be strong enough .
