Paint stire stick with lines drawn on it in magic marker, with a piece of hay string thru a hole in the top to keep it from fallin in the tank. That or 'peer' down in the tank before you start work... between the 2, That works on all my old fords!

Welcome to TBN!! Do not pay any attention to sound guy he is naturally a smart alec!!
You will probably get a better response in the Yanmar forum which is a little further down the main forum page--it is the first in the "other" category. It is very active and a good number of dealers frequent it. The only fuel gauge that I am aware of is a filler cap gauge much like an outboard motor tank.
I checked quickly and the link for one dealer is CAP W/GAUGE ^: Yanmar Tractor Parts but there are several dealers who probably have this item. You can try LMTC, Danny, EFC/ and others -- whoever is closest to you.

I actually use even a more primitive method than sound guy--I find a straw and stickit down in there and simply look at how much I have.

My neighbor uses whatever stick he can find laying on the ground to dip in the tank on his old JD 500C TLB. The tank had to be removed to fix a hole one day. It had six sticks in it.
