injector seats

I will try post this here as the massey ferguson section is very slow.The seats on my cylinder head are not uniform. Will it make a difference? The injectors sit on a copper washer and I wonder if the washer would just deform and take the shape of the damaged seat or do I need to get this machined? The perkins book says the seats should not be shimmed and the copper washers are specialized washers .I cant see what is so special about a copper washer

G'day Plunger the copper washer will/should seal that ok so long as you use the right ones they are a very heavy washer and it is critical to use the right ones as they sit the nozzle at the right height to spray into the cylinder, if you have the nozzle at the wrong height you run the risk of burning a hole in the piston.
