Injector Pump Removal

i have an oil leak around my pump thats getting worse, i would like to peel it away from the block to clean and seal it up but can i do this without disconnecting the linkages from the governor? i dont want to damage the fragile linkages.

Don't start on that until you have a good description.

Mark (YM guru who has moved on) once noted that there is some delicate internal linkage that has to be detached before it will lift off.

Somebody who knows how to do this will likely show up here - I hope.

If the setup is anything like my 336d then you simply remove the bolts from the block, pull it away about an inch or so, remove the cotter pin and lift of the governor arm.

It was really quite easy. The butt pucker task is when you have to reinstall the pin without dropping it into the oil pan.

On my pump there are shims which adjust the injector timing used as gaskets, so I would be very careful not to add any goo to seal that leak, instead cleaning what exists really well and hoping for the best

Just told him about the same thing on hoye Domush. And he may be able just to cut it since it not under pressure and the use a sealer at the cut on the gasket to make sure it seals. "But" he will still have to remove "ALL" the old Gasket for the new gasket to seal properly. I agree though don't use much of the Goo!!!!

Mine leaked from the minute it landed in my driveway from being freshly rebuilt.

I simply cleaned around the pump with brakeclean and air and siliconed it its been fine ever since. (Its only splash oil)

I first tightened the pump no help so I figured they jimmied a shim prying the pump off or cut one I may never know.
