As noted on another thread, I have ordered a new injection pump for my KAMA 454 with a 395 T FD engine. I looked at Circle G tractor parts on line instruction. looks to simple!

Once you have removed your old fuel injection pump, here's how to install your new pump and set the timing:
1) Rotate the engine until the #1 piston rises to its highest point. (Paddy => I plan to remove the valve cover and rotate engine until both valves are closed. Is this correct? I have compression release so it should turn over easy. Do most engines rotate CCW from view from the front looking back?)
2) Connect the new pump to all fuel lines, except for the top hard lines that connect to each injector. Do not connect the pump yet. (Paddy => what supports the heavy pump? Or do you bolt it on without gear?)
3) Press the primer pump to build pressure, open the bleeder valve to release air, then close the bleeder valve. Repeat until fuel comes out of the bleeder valve. (Paddy => I have replaced the mechanical primer pump with an electric primer pump. I suppose I can use a longer fuel line from E-pump and prime it)
4) Slowly rotate the fuel injection pump shaft. Stop rotating as soon as fuel rises to the top of the #1 hardline port. (Paddy => will the pump rotate easy? Or do yo use plyers? What direct does the pump rotate viewed from the seat? In a video I saw the Pump gear rotated CW from point of view, front looking back)
5) Install the pump onto the fuel injection pump gear and bolt pump to the timing gearcase.
6) This procedure should get your tractor running, but some fine-tuning may be required to achieve optimum performance. (Paddy => how do you fine tune? Does the pump have slots where it mounts?)
