Hey all. I’m looking at (Or going to look when he gets it in) a Case-IH DX 29. I was told this is the same as the NH TC 29. I don’t know the price yet as it is a Saturday and he could not get any info on it. I’m going to look at the DX 29 HST with a MM rear discharge mower. This is what I have to mow: http://www.pixagogo.com/7000025205 I want to know, is this a good tractor? I know it will run a 72” mower, but I’m thinking the 60” will be better with all the obstacles and fences I have to get around. So I’d like to hear the good and the bad on this combo. Thanks.

I have a TC29D. I run a 72" MMM on it with no problems. The tractor has been a good tractor for me with over 300 hours on it so far. If you have a lot of obstacles then the super-steer if you have it will be great.

Any questions please let me know.

Nope, not wrong. SS is a NH exclusive.

No you guys are right, I looked at the post heading and saw DC29DA and was thinking New Holland. But your right, Case does not have the super-steer.

I drove to a NH dealer, but he had no TC 29 DA. Didn’t have an idea on pricing either. He did have a Kubota B3030 HSD with a 60” MMM for $15999. But it is a side discharge. Most of the dealers around here a farm dealers with some mowers on the side. The JD dealer hasn’t even ordered a CUT because he didn’t think he’d ever sell one. Case dealer thinks the tractor will be somewhere around $14000 with about $2000 for the rear discharge mower. He’s pushing a GX 40 McCormick with HST and a mid PTO. Says he can get it for the same price as the DX 29. That’s a lot of tractor for the same money. But I don’t know of an aftermarket company that makes a MM rear discharge mower. Plus it seems kinda big for yard work. I tried that with the International 484 and a rear 72” Landpride. It’s just too big. Can’t maneuver at all with out tearing stuff up. Plus that Landpride can throw things a looong way. That’s why I want a rear discharge mower. And a mid mount. I used to mow this place with an A Farmall for years, until it finally gave out. Had a 60” Woods belly mower. More maneuverable than the 484, but you were tired at the end of the day. And I’m hoping that when you fold the roll bar down it doesn’t interfere with attachments. I need really low clearance to get under trees to spray fences.

With CUTs, the MMM is usually proprietary to the manufacturer. Odds are, you will not find an aftermarket MMM.

I bought my TC25D with a MMM (and FEL) thinking it would replace my Work Horse garden tractor with a 42" rear discharge mower. I found even the TC25D too large and too heavy for our 1 acre yard. Too many trees and planting beds to maneuver around. I sold the MMM and bought a new rear discharge deck for the Work Horse. The TC25D is used to mow our pastures and other duties related to maintaining our barn, riding ring and three horses.

Wow. You think the TC 25 is too heavy? My 484 would do a good job if I didn’t have to turn and it weighs about 5000 pounds, maybe more. The TC 29 is less than half that. I figured with the 4WD assisting in turns, I wouldn’t have a thing to worry about. But I’ll be honest with you. I’m not really into the manicured look. Take a look at the pics. Click on the pic to see it better, then click on original to see the weeds. I’m just looking for a machine that will give a decent cut without clumping the grass and still be big enough for the other chores.

I know it was too heavy. In the spring, when the ground was soft, it left marks in the lawn and there were places I could not mow because of the ruts it left.

Neither am I, but I draw the line at making furrows. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I know what you are talking about. Out by the highway I have a fairly steep bank. Very tricky with the rider. It was one of those times it rained a week and the grass was getting out of control. So I put the Landpride on the 484 and try to mow it. The 484 has no trouble with that bank, but it was muddier than I thought. The 484 slides off the bank and into the water in the ditch. One blade of the mower hits the water and kills the tractor. I fire the tractor up but can not back up, as I could not get the mower lifted up far enough. I have no choice but go forward. I had to go about 75 feet before the ground leveled out so I could get out. It looked like a tractor trailer wrecked there by the time I got out. And twisted the PTO shaft on the mower. The yards and lots are fairly solid. When it is real spongy, the 484 will leave cleat marks. Something I hope the new tractor won’t do with turf tires.
