Just passing some info for the owners of the Canadian blowers. The electric motors that sometimes fail are simply 2000 lb. winch motors.
Mine failed a decade ago and KD Martin wanted over $400. to replace it. After research I discovered that you can substitute a winch motor for under $100. Just do not exceed the 2000 lb. rating because the drive gears that attach to the machine are different on the other sizes. ( I learned this the hard way when I bought a 3000 lb. unit on sale. )
I now have several backups in queue for when the current motor dies.
