I have been told that the very best mulch you can get to put on topsoil is from the native trees. If you can't find any other method of use, could you grind up these trees in a chipper? That way you would just be speeding up nature's recycling process.

Dying Hemlock:

If you have enough big trees have you thought about cutting and then bring in a bandsawmill for the milling. The lumber should be good for all the items you have suggested.

I have burned a lot of pine and poplar in a stove with no build up problems. This was back in Alberta and what was available was used.

Hemlock is good for beams and posts though it may be hard to nail without splitting when dry. It is also good for trailer decking and truck body sides as well a scaffolding planks. I sell some pop;ar to people who use it for outside trim around garage doors and I use it myself around doors and windows, but it must be painted to be protected. That said I wouldn't use it for a natural finish fence, especially if it was close to or in contact with the ground.
