indoor cat repellent?

We have two cats and two dogs- all indoor critters. For the most part it works well for us. My wife is decorating for Halloween ( see Oct 1st in Michigan ) and has a large display on a table that our cats love to visit- looks like Godzilla in Spooksville! Any ideas on how to keep them out? I recall hearing about a spray that would keep them off counters and tables? Any home remedy that works for you?

Buy a bigger dog, train it well, the cats will stay away

Buy a large pet rat. Put rat in small cage on table. Entice cat to get on top of cage to taunt rat. Enjoy watching rat sink choppers into cat's foot. Enjoy watching cat flail about as though on fire till rat lets go. Leave rat in cage on table. Cat will not return.

thanks to all for the very creative ideas. While I tend to agree that they would all work, there is one common flaw- the cats are my wife's. Come to think of it, so is the village. Why am I even wasting time...........

I don't know about repelling, but cats don't like orange oil at all! They react the same way humans do to skunk smell.

Someone ask for advice so I gave them advice, some may be offended but it would be a gauranteed chance of keeping the cats off of the table.
