Anyone out there have to replace your mailbox because the delivery person keeps whacking it? I am tired of straightening out the box and refuse to replace it again with a cheapo sheet metal one. Stainless heavy duty is my next option but the large ones are spendy.
Super easy access to it, no curve in the road and the post is angled back away from the box. No idea why she hits it.

Why would the delivery person hit the mailbox? Doesn't your town have teenagers for that?

Ahhhmmm, the ansewer might be right before your eyes.
Have a welder build one as heavy as it take's. Not sure what the rule is in ND,but in Tx,the highway maintainance dept will replace damaged posts and boxes free if you call them. If you set a large post or install an indistructable box they will remove it and replace with approved post and box. The state was stuck with large liability claims resulting from injurys and deaths when cars hit heavy boxes. TXDOT also spent millions replacing guardrail and signs with those that yield when struck. On county and city roads, liability fall's to property owner so city and county don't become involved. ASk your local officials before spending much on a box.

I don't think there is an indestructible mailbox but hanging from chains and swinging poles, spring loaded post etc. in the videos posted are ways to help prevent damage.

In my area its the road dept. snow plows, mowers, and vandals that take out the boxes. I've had to repair or replace mine 5 times in the past 27 years.

The only way to absolutely prevent mailbox damage is to remove it and get a P.O. box. Then you have the inconvenience of daily driving to the Post Office to get your mail.

Just my experience...but most mail carriers are superb drivers regardless of their gender...

My mail is only delivered correctly when my regular carrier is working, when on vacation or off, my mail is either lost, delivered to the wrong address or I get every one's mail to deliver. I've replaced my box 4 times in 20 years. I could cure this by getting a P.O. Box as I'm retired and go out every morning to get my news paper and go right past the P.O. but I'll be darned if I'll pay the P.O. to not deliver my mail.

Agree with this 100%. My father retired from the PO after 33 years. Not sure if all PO's have it but where he worked they gave out awards yearly for no accidents or damage to mailboxes.

Buy huge mailbox
Place normal sized mailbox inside huge mailbox
Fill the void between the two with concrete
Mount to your existing or new quality post
