I posted this in the widening thread but also decided it probably deserved it's own.

Has anyone on here successfully added a wing to grab more height on the john deere 54 or 47 snowblower for that matter? I need this less for cramming in more snow and more for shielding the plastic hydraulic cover better from overflow. I'm assuming some 7ga steel bent and drilled work work fine. Any other recommendations?

Thanks

How much do you plan on adding to the top ?
I think your idea is a good one.

Snowblower and wanted a little more width and height and I will be bolting the part on.

I want 2” on both sides and about 4 to 6” on the top angled a little too.

Im going to measure in the morning but I'm thinking 3-4 inches swept forward would be enough to keep the plastic cover alive.

I posted this on the widening thread but I'll put it here too. My old neighbor has a set up like what you are talking about. He used 1/8" clear lexan. The glass shop he got it from put it in a break and bent it to the angle he needed. He did put a couple of braces to help support it. Being clear you can see through it (not perfectly) and the headlights can shine through it.

Thanks, interesting thought, especially around the headlight light transmission. I didn't think of that.

Any chance you could snap a picture!? Thanks again

He had a better idea to deal with the snow, 3 years ago he moved to North Carolina, just outside of Charlotte.
