Increasing 3 Pt. Lift Cap. JD 955

Hi All,
I've spent some time searching and have found nothing helpful.

I'm looking to buy a backhoe attachment for my John Deere 955. I specifically want a 3 point type, not a subframe type. I do not want to lose my ability to change attachments around at will.

The problem I'm running into is that all of the 3 point backhoes I've found are in the 990-1100 lb range and my tractor is only rated to lift 957 lbs. There's no real way of knowing if it will lift more than that without trying, but I'm not willing to chance it and buy one without knowing. According to the specs, the tractor weighs enough, 1990 lbs. I just need another 150 lbs of lift capacity.

Any suggestions would be great!!!

If you have a rear attachment, find out it's weight and then place bags of sand or such on it to reach the weight you need and test it. You probably will need front weights. Now word of warning, have no experience with backhoe on a 3 pth with or without subframe but you can find a few post here am sure where the lift was damage or tractor broken without subframe.

I had a 3 point backhoe on a B2150 and it practically destroyed the 3 point. I used it lot. There was an immense amount of play in the lift when I sold it. If your planning on keeping the tractor you will be glad ya went with a subframe mount.

3 point backhoes will cause substantial damage, especially if you are maxing out the 3-point capacity. I have a subframe mount and the backhoe can be off in about 4 minutes. I can get it back on in about 5. I'm sure it would take the same amount of time, if not longer to hookup or remove a 3 point BH.

I'm amazed at how much power even my small BH has. It can pick up and move the tractor very easily. I'm sure I would have broken the tractor already if it wasn't a subframe mount!
