Hello all, I'm a new member here, but I have lurked for a while. I know there are some pretty sharp guys on here so heres my question.
I am looking at buying a 1991 IMT 542. It has a IMR M33/T engine and the tractor appears to be in great shape, I have only seen pictures online, I am going to look at it this weekend. But my problem is I can find next to nothing on these tractors. It is supposedly almost identical to Massey Ferguson (looks like a 240). But I don't think Masseys used that engine. It is a screaming deal, but I don't want to buy something I can't get parts for. What do you guys think, any help you can give would be great. Would Massey parts fit this beauty?

IMT-BEOGRAD

whatエs the price of it?? I think Perkins engine parts should fit.

Look out for ZJ here in the Forum, he is from Croatia and should have some knowledge about the IMT.

They're licensed knock-offs of Massey Fergusons, but not the same. Parts aren't common to the 2 brands. Engine parts don't interchange with Perkins. Still a good tractor though.

ABC Groff is a licensed IMT dealer and the best source for parts and service.

Farmwithjunk, thanks for the info. You are always Johnny-on-the-spot with the help. I think I am going to buy it, I can't find anything even close to it in that price range.

FYI, IMT was once a licensed MF manufacturer, and sold tractors to MF for sale as Massey-Ferguson's, as well as under their own IMT brand. The engines were licensed Perkins. So, depending on the models and the years, there could very well be interchangeable parts available.

When i lived in england most big dealers sold a "cheap" brand alongside the mainstreams and Zetor,IMT,Belarus,Universal were the usual suspects....IMT was probably the most popular as it had connections to MF but "Cheap" was questionable given the poor quality compared to mainstream brands.
Engines were rareley a problem but the rest............????????
I never ran one as such but bought and sold many and they were hard to sell and dealers did'nt like to support them or work on them ,Kind of "You buy it cheap but after that you're on your own"....But if you're only putting a few hundred hours a year and not hard work maybe you could save some $$$$ .
I would be concerned of resale value ...If you get it for nothing ...Why not,They all break down eventually...?
Belarus is the only one that really should be avoided at all cost.
