Have any of you imported your own Jinma? I have emailed a few factories/reps in China and inquired about a one tractor import. They seem ok with it. I got one price from one rep for a jm254 - $4300 to my port in Norfolk, VA and JM304 - $4690 to Norfolk. I would have to get it through customs with a broker. Any input? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Check out Johnstractor and CTOA. There are many treads there. Quite risky if you have not done it before and things go wrong. Just my opinion, buy from a dealer to reduce the worry. You can shop around and get almost as good a price from a dealer as self importing if you do your homework.

NUKE:

there are lost of HIDDEN costs on top of that price you posted...

brokerage, dock/port fees, dryage fees ect ect ect. and on top if it lots of customs problems can pop up for first time buyiers/importers. Also you can be held liable if something is amiss with the paperwork and port/storage fee's rack up fast... all in all when I looked into it, the costs were added up to be nearly what dealers were charging for crate purchaces. I decided to skip all the hassels and get a dealer crate and had fun doing it... I did invest lots of time into geting all the ducks in a row for self importing but decided that once I knew the risks it wasn't really worth it and dropped the self import thing...

Kevin,

I have done it, but do NOT recommend it for people who are only purchasing one tractor. After all the extra hassles, the long wait for your tractor, and if everything goes OK, you might come out a few hundred less than a crate purchase. If you have issues, with tractor or importing process, and it can end-up costing you more time AND money. Being in VA, check with EmeryBuilt. They sell crate tractors, and I have seen very competitive sale prices from them, in the past.
