What's some of the differences between the BX models and the compact B7500?? Other than the size. Can the BX do more or is it because it's better to mow with? I'm just wondering since I see alot of postings on the BX models. They look like great little machines
What can the BX do that the 7500 cannot? Maybe that's my question?

For me it is more that the BX gives me everything I want at a few thousand more than a quality lawn & garden machine. I couldn't justify something like a B7500 as my properties are only 3/4 acres each (of course probably can't justify the BX1800 either, but I got the wife to say yes /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Actually I think she was just paying me back for getting me to say yes.......at least that is what I tell myself)

Anhow, the BX's are less expensive than the B7500 and weigh less. Smaller plays into somes decisions I'm sure as they may be more maneuverable in tight places. I was on the lower end of the scale, and scaling up to the BX was a BIG step.

Bottom line is I think most will agree that go as big as you can afford to and your projects/land will support. For me that was stepping up from something like a JD 4 or 5X series Lawn & Garden Tractor to the very competent BX1800. Of course even that was $3,000 more than my CFO had budgeted me for!! But as I said above I managed to convince her it was worth it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Heck I even had to have the dealers talk me into a FEL as I started out wanting a front hydraulic angling blade as that is what I knew from my fathers JD425 and JD318 I used so many times. When I talked to the dealers(Kubota ones at least), they said for the cost of the front blade, I could add a few hundred and have a Loader. I said what do I need that for I just want to move snow. They said you can move snow and a lot more! Well I listened after about the 3rd or 4th one told me (momma didn't raise no fools /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif )

I have really enjoyed the FEL and have used it quite a bit this year moving everything from stone for a drainage ditch to a keg of beer at my pig roast, and I haven't even tried snow yet!!! Of course now I am I will have to still get a back blade or even a front blade. Time will tell, but my snow removal is only about 30x70' so I think I can manage.

Well my wind is finally dying down, so what was the question again??? Oh thats right you were wanting to know what to ask for Christmas.........well if Santa can afford it, I would ask for a B7500...but you can't go wrong with the BX either.

The bx mower is a suspended type, whereas the larger tractors have mowers that run on the ground supported by their own wheels when cutting...

The bx is a little smaller...can get between things a larger tractor probably can't...

The ROPS is probably a little lower...get into an existing shed for storage, one that a larger tractor might not, or not as easily?

The BX is a little cheaper...drains your bank account less...

Now if you asked "What can the 7500 do that a BX can't..." you would probably get a lot more answers! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I see now that you already have the B7500. Didn't look at your profile before I replied, but I happened to see another of your posts and realized.

I would say the only thing you may be missing is the lighter smaller tractor for mowing, but if your interested, I am sure you could find a BX owner willing to trade..... Just kidding /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Of course that wouldn't be me as I said above, mine is big enough for my lots.

I had a hard time deciding between the BX22 and the 7500 as I really like the 7500. One reason I chose the BX22 because I thought the suspended mower mounting system would mow better and other members said it was a nice mowing machine and I would be doing a lot of mowing with it. The second reason I chose the BX22 was that I liked the frame mounted TLB unit from the factory as opposed to an add on backhoe I would have gotten with the 7500. The total cost was also less. The bottom line is I made the right choice for me and I love my BX. I do believe I would have been very happy with the 7500 had I gotten it. You would have trouble finding 7500 owners that are not happy with it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

BX is good for tight spaces etc. Nice machine. B7500 might give you more ground clearance and digging power etc. Depends on what you want to do with it.

Think about storage space, $$$$, etc.

You are right that there will be a lot of answers, but it is arguable whether those answers are right.

If one compares the two tractors on paper there is little to choose between them. However when you compare them physically, one will see the difference in size and may assume that there is a significant difference in ability.

A few things the others forgot to mention:

1. The BX has a lower center of gravity, and that means you can handle mor of a slope while using the tractor. I can mow the ditch in front of my home with the BX just fine, I tried and couldn't with the 7500.

2. Revers air-flow design of the BX is nice when the grass fines end up clogging the intake screen. When this happens, I just lean over and wipe them away. If i had the 7500, I'd have to stop and get off, clean them, get on, restart the mower, etc....

3. Gas tank location. Its a lot easier to lift the 5 gal diesel tank up to the rear fender than it is to lift it over the steering wheel on the 7500.

Just a few...I'm sure there's more. Keep in mind that this doesn't mean the 7500 isn't better suited for more things...like tromping through woods... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I am pretty sure the center of gravity of the BX is lower than say the B7500 or larger B series tractors. Almost 100 percent sure.

BUT the BX is also narrower so I am not sure the net result is much, if any different than the larger B series tractors, as far as rolling over on a slope. There is no doubt my B2910 feels more unstable than the BX...but that could just be because I sit higher on the larger tractor.

Since I have not [ and don't intend to] rolled, or almost rolled either tractor, I really don't know how stable either is on a slope. I do know I chicken out pretty easily...I am afraid to cross a 20 degree slope. Or if I do it is at about 0.5 mph...glad I have an HST... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Charliebrn, what happened that you could not cut the ditch with the B7500? But could with the BX? Very curious to know the answer. Were the conditions the same both times?

Last fall I was amazed when I was going down a slope I always go down and suddenly I was sliding like on a sheet of ice...and it was just wet grass that decided to teach me a lesson.

Got chains soon after that...now that I think about it...almost time to get those chains back on... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It is better to mow with, more manuverable and more stable on slopes. The suspended 60 inch MMM is much better than the ground contact type on the 7500. The BX is a great little tractor that is also a great mower. J
