I have a 982 and am not sure what to do with it. It has a 60" belly mower, everything works on it (except it needs a new belt). It is in good shape, but you can tell it has the original paint (it is dull and worn in spots). I don't need it anymore.

Question-Should I sell it as is or restore it (i.e. repaint it) and sell it. I will post some photos later. In either case, does anyone have any ideas as to what it is worth.

Thanks for your help

If it were mine I'd replace the belt and try to sell it as is. Believe it or not there are a lot of collectors out there that prefer it in original condition. Also, with the cost of parts these days plus the cost of your own labor you'll never get back the money you put into it. Just my two pennies worth, others may disagree.

I kinda agree. In order to put it in 'collectible' shape will cost a bunch and time. FYI, I sold a 1988 1872 for $1,000 'as is'. It was in good operating condition but paint was faded. If you paint anything, just paint the deck. Easy to do and cheap.
