ih 574 coil gets hot

After a while the coil on my 574 gets hot and the tractor stops. I tried two new coils and the same thing. I then put on the old coil and its starts right up and run better than with the new coils I put on until that one get hot. I put in new point and cond. and it has the autolite disbutor with the resister in the coil. any ideas. MB

If you have a 12 V system and a 12V (3.2 ohms primary coil resistance)coil and your coil is overheating your voltage regulator must be causing it and over voltage that's causing high primary current in the coil. Look at your points, do they look burned? Also make sure points aren't set to close.
