Gears not going in gear . Hi...low and reverse is selecting but not 123 and 4 .
What can be done to correcet this ?
I allready removed all the play on that topshaft .

I tested the tractor and it holds 1. 2 and 4 , but slips out of 3rd.

Sounds like you have a worn transmission gear, that needs to be replaced,,,

That happens, that is probably the "field" gear that was used by a previous owner for thousands of hours,,, of tilling, or something.
