ignition timing for s650g

what i see are two notches on the crank pulley, i have to assume 1 is tdc, the other ??? btdc, if i look to the front of the engine which notch is tdc and what is the other, anyone know? also i have seen 6 btdc, 10 btdc and is this with the vacuum hose for the advance disconnected?
