ignition switch issues

thanks guys.
The wd-40 worked . (it is all I had on Hand) just sprayed it in the key slot for now. may have to take apart as suggested (but at least I can get it started right now.) Maybe it was the cold weather causing the grease to cake/harden as several guys suggested.

me happy now

"worked for now"------ but I bet it continues for a very long time. Don't be in a rush to open it as the little tabs will snap off.
My treated switch is still A-OK after 4 years or so with my spare sitting on the shelf.

I have split old switches and they were all caked and dry generally with the tension spring hung up by the caked grease.
While I expected to find warn contacts that was not the case. For that reason I habitually spray a small squirt of WD.
Also do all door locks from time to time and have not had a frozen car door lock for the last 20 years.

I have had trouble with the switches on my tractor also. 2 light/turn signal switches and just got my fourth ignition switch.. Cost me $100.00 for switch and a nice weather weekend. It is enough to make me sorry that I bought this tractor (venting, friend had to go get his Kubota so we could move logs. He took get joy in turning it on and off.) I coated the last switch with liquid electrical tape and I always cover switch. My storage conditions are similar to bvanek's. Probably get parts from same dealer. I like the tractor (now that 4 wheel drive issue resolved) but could not recommend it. Pretty silly for Kioti not to deal with the issue.

Just spray some Fluid Film in the switch. Fixed mine 2 years ago. No trouble since. it wouldn't hurt to spray it once a year, but I haven't remembered to do it.

Good stuff, I use if for everything on the tractor that needs lubing that does not have a grease Zerk.

The Dr. Mower company started pushing it in their catalog years ago for their machines. I never thought much about it and never tried any, until someone on here convinced me to try some. They sent me a small free are-sol can of the stuff, I used it and ordered several of the full size cans. I was hooked.:fishing:
