I nabb 20141007_115707.jpged the pictured pump at the local scrap yard for $10!
Free turning etc. I found the company web page but no real details, I gathered it produces a lot of PSI at low rpm.
Thus I am thinking a new pump for my log splitter build. Anyone know about this one ?20141007_115727.jpg20141007_115714.jpg

I've never heard of anyone using a hydraulic motor as a pump.

I've seen people use 2 matching motors to make a pto driven drive system for a auger bits mounted on the side of a bucket.

You really want a two stage pump. Fast movement to the wood then when the pressure required is too much for both stages, the low pressure stage drops out. This keeps the horsepower required low and shortens the cycle time.

Back again. I came across two still in the box Webster Hydraulic Pumps ( model 043YC001702-LF )
I see the run a good penny. average around $249. I know a two stage pump is suggested for the log
splitter. Will this one do ok is my question.

FYI: my splitter is home built, dual way splitter which currently runs of the hydraulics of my John Deere 4100. i'm guessing near
18 tons. I use a standard 20"inch throw cylinder with a 3" shaft. It does good. But would much rather run it off the PTO so I can leave the FEL mounted. I know I can add Power Beyond to the rear. But the small hoses that uses. I feel will slow it down to much

2500 Max Continuous PSI
3000 RPM Max
Cubic Inch Displacement: .43
Theoretical flow rate at 1750 rpm = 3.2 GPM
Mount: SAE A
Shaft: 5/8" 9-Tooth splined shaft, 1.25" length
#12 in / #10 out SAE o-ring side port
Rotation: CCW / Left-hand

CID .43.......Gonna run slow for a log splitter.....why not just buy the right 2-stage pump and go split wood?
