ID John Deere Plows

Hi all,
I hope someone can help identify the model of plows I have inherited. These came on a place I just purchased so I don't know much about them other than they need to have the shins, landslides, and shares replaced. I do know that the hydraulics work so I hope it will be worth it to track down some replacement parts.

On one of the frogs is the number AA10503, on the back of all of the moldboards is stenciled the number HS 444 FC, and on the left side of the main beam is stenciled, what I believe, would be the model number. It looks like a 3 digit number possibly ending in 3. It is really hard to tell.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe what you have there is a Deere model 825 reversable plow. They were built in the late 1950's. Later model 835/835A were equipped with "NU" style bottoms. The earlier 825 had older style "HS" bottoms. ("High Speed", from a time when high plowing speeds were considered anything over 3-1/2 to 4 mph) Parts should still be available, albiet VERY costly. Aftermarket wear parts would be easier (and cheaper) to find. Try Valu-Bilt.

I don't know what you have to pull it with, but don't plan on using a tractor that would normally pull a 3-bottom conventional plow. To handle that plow, count on needing a 4/5 plow tractor. They're a handfull. Plan on buying a full rack of front weights too!

I have been reading this site ever since I bought the property and found that many questions I had were already answered. I appreciate all the contributions made here.

Hey almosta,

I realize I'm a year and a half late to the party, but thought I'd veryify that your plow is indeed an 825. It will plow as-is, but it's missing all the coulters and the on-land wheels. The guage wheel that is on it isn't supposed to be.

I was at a sale this past weekend where three 825 were sold. The first one was complete with all coulters and on-land wheels. I quit bidding at 800 and it sold for $850. Shoulda bought it becuase the second one missing the on-land wheels and 4 of the coulters brought $1300 and the third one complete brought $1400
