I want a mid mount PTO on my Kubota B21!

Does anyone have any experience with a tractor mid mount pto? My kubota B21 does not come with a mid mount but I want one to drive a front blower.

I have to take the engine out in spring to put in a 25hp diesel.

Does anyone know if the mid mount PTO is part of the bell housing? Maybe I can get bell housing from another Kubota tractor that would bolt up to the Kubota engine?

I think most mid pto's are an integral part of the transaxle. I have seen a pulley arrangement that allows the rear pto to be directed under and to the front for just the thing you are talking about.

Its a transmission that would be needed.

Does anyone know of a Kubota tractor that has a Mid mount PTO and a D1005 21hp kubota diesel engine. By knowing this, I can see if I can use that transmission with my tractor.

B2100, B7500, B7510.

The B2400, B2410, and B7610 have the D1105 24 hp diesel engine, but likely the same trans-axle.

Thanks Don - I have seen that set up but decided agaist for various reasons.

My other option would be to look into a front mount PTO.

Have you spent any time using the search function here? Seems to me I recall a thread (maybe years ago) discussing how the commercial Bs used the same major components as the home owner Bs......... but used a heavy subframe. If that is true, it certainly may be possible to add a mid PTO. I've never heard of anyone doing it though.

A front PTO my be possible too. Unfortunately, they haven't been popular for quite awhile. Some of the pitfalls will be having to raise (or heavily modify) your radiator and battery tray to make room for the shaft. Finding an electric clutch shouldn't be much of a problem. Good luck.
