Perhaps I should have posted this in the New Holland section but here goes.
Back in January I traded my New Holland TC40DA with the Curtis Cab for a John Deere 4720 with the ComfortGard cab. Attached are a few pictures of the old friend followed by some of the new arrival.
I must admit the New Holland served me well since the first TC40D I purchased in 2001. This was the third of the TC40 tractors and there were only one or two small problems. The first 40DA had an injector pump timing issue that needed attention and there was a minor issue with the cruise control on the most recent tractor but overall, a darn reliable tractor.
I had an ocassional issue with SuperSteer and the way the front of the tractor moves in the opposite direction of direction you steer but I got more accustomed to the quirk over time.
I actually would have had no problem staying with New Holland but I was looking for a higher horsepower tractor with a hydrostatic transmission and with greater hydraulic capacity. I think NH did a real nice job with their SuperSuite cab so that wasn't the difference. If NH had bumped up the power on the class III tractor to the majic 50 PTO hp level and bumped up the loader lifting capacity I might not have made the jump to JD. But they didn't, so here is the new friend.
I've attached a couple of pictures that were actually taken a year ago of the New Holland as well as a couple of the JD that were taken back in February. I really like the new JD but I still have a fondness for the old NH.
