I used the tractor today to clean up some limbs that came down when Ivan came through. I've checked everywhere but I think I threw the key in the burn pile. Are the keys the same for all of the BX2200's? I see some replacement keys on the tractorsmart web page. Will those work or do I need to see my local dealer to get them? Thanks in advance for your help!

Dealer told me quietly all keys are the same for all Kubota's. He told me to grab any key off the peg board when we were test driving, it fit all the L-series I was on. I think the key said it was for an M6800?

They are the same. My dealer has told me to just leave the tractor in the parking lot. I asked where to put the key, he told me any one would work so no need to leave it.

Now my tractor sitting in an open lot with someone having a key to it does not sit well, but what are you gonna do.

All construction equipment have single key ignition switches. I don't know the reasoning behind this, but that is the way it has been for just about forever. I toyed with the though of putting a separate key switch on my tractor to disable it, but then realized that it will just be one more problem to deal with in the future. If someone wants to steal it, the key is the least of the problems. All BX keys are alike..

I don't know if your key will be any good after the burn, but I do know that if you run over your tractor key with the mower it will make the strangest LOUD 'tink ping tink tink' sound you ever heard. You will even stop mowing when you hear it to see what you ran over, which also just happens to be when you will say to yourself "where did my ignition key go?" /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Don't worry though, the part that is left over will still start your tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Why worry about a key. I drove over my mobile phone.
Did not work after that. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have two Kubotas (albeit one is a garden tractor) and the keys look very different - never tried to use the "wrong" one in the other machine though.

I don't think the key in my B2910 will work in my BX2200.

I am pretty sure I tried them in the past and they were different. I'll take another look and report back if they are the same, but I would bet they are different as I sit here now... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Been wrong more than once before though... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

And another fun fact, the key for a New Holland will work in a Kubota, and visa versa.

Near as I can all tractors use the same key?!?

Bob, a few years ago, my rancher neighbor went out of state on vacation and left his old Oliver hidden in the woods on Corp of Engineers land he had leased. There were some areas a mile or so back through the woods where we had been cutting hay. Anyway, I drove by there one day and saw the tractor up by the gate, so went to check on it. Someone had driven it all the way to the gate and had rammed the gate with it, but the gate and chains held, so they abandoned the tractor. I didn't have the key, but found that was not a problem; my nail clipper worked just fine /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, and fortunately, the tractor wasn't damaged and I drove it away.
