I still haven\'t decided on my tractor yet. tractor

I have been reading and posting on this forum for only a short time. I have been looking at all colors and am leaning towards the TC 21D as I've stated in previous posts. I am just amazed at ALL the activity on the Kubota and JD sites. I am surprised by the lack of new posting on the NH site. JUST MY PERSONAL OBSERVATION.

banjobj,

I enjoy reading all the forums too. I check this site at least once per day. Be aware, tractors are very addictive! I really can't explain the lack of activity on the NH forum. When I bought by TC35D there was plenty of discussion. I do my best but I can't ask all the dumb questions /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif! To be perfectly honest, I really like talking about tractors. Any and everything. Maintainance, how does it work, engines, technique or what to buy are all valid topics. Ask away, I'll pipe up if nothing else!

Now I don't really know about the TC21D in particular, but I can offer some help. What kinds of tasks are you trying to do? How big is your land? Will you be finish mowing?

Peter

Hi guys,

Being a proud owner of a Blue machine and a daily viewer of the forum I rarely get to the NH forum also. Seems like since I frequent the forum so often I just hit the post for the last 12 hours to see what is new. Whole lot of variety too! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Darn nice place to visit!

banjobj,

Just about end of March to end of April watch for dealers open house, and w/the new payment plans plus the dealer specials you could come out a winner, for
the only thing your missing now FEL practice time.

Re: I still haven\'t decided on my tractor yet. tractor

banjobj,

You're right! There is less activity here and the JD board is quickly catching up and appears will surpass the NH board in total posts soon.

I did a little checking on the Kubota area and found some interesting topics:
"I think I might have one or more bad glow plugs on my kubota..."
"The cruise control on my 2910 stopped working again..."
"I have a new (28 hrs) B21. Having just parked it on the brand new slab I noticed a small puddle under the 4 in 1..."

Just a few but I for one am glad these concerns are on the Kubota forum and not here. You will also notice that threads soon go off topic (which usually gets interesting and fun) and especially with signatures you will see all brand owners posting in all areas, including here.

I purchased my NH TC18 about a year and a half ago...after reading this board's previous versions that were mainly Kubota oriented. Why? Because I found the TC18 to be superior in every area to the similar Kubotas AND I found a great dealer!

If I had bought a Kubota, would I still be happy today? I'm pretty sure that I would be...what about a JD? I'm pretty sure I would be. You have to decide for yourself which tractor is best for you, which dealer is best for you.

I spoke with an area Kubota/New Holland dealer back in December that told me that his Kubotas used to outsell the New Hollands but not for over about a year now. And he says he makes more profit on the Kubotas...but customers are going towards the New Hollands. Is this happening everywhere? I doubt it. New Holland is part of CNH, the World's largest manufacturer of agricultural equipment!

I really believe that through all of the posts and evaluations on this board, most have determined that you can't go wrong if you buy one of the major brands, some have bought other brands and have been perfectly satisfied with them. Just continue to read a lot and ask questions, talk to dealers, drive around when they're closed and check out the tractors, etc.

I sometimes wonder if many BLUE owners are "real farmers" like a friend of mine that would never have the time to post and participate on this board. I have posted much less lately because of work demands and I can not keep up with all of the posts.

Good Luck, JimBinMI

Re: I still haven\'t decided on my tractor yet. tractor

Thanks to all for all the good comments and suggestions. I will be looking for a FWD machine of 18 to 22 HP w/ FEL and no mower at this time. I have been doing some serious looking and test drives. I will use the tractor for gathering firewood on small wood lots. I really like the NH TC 21D best so far. I did like the Kub BX 2200, but thought it a bit too small. It is good to see some ACTION on this site!!!!!

Re: I still haven\'t decided on my tractor yet. tractor

I did a little checking on the New Holland/Fiat area and found some interesting topics:

1520 tractor splitting in half.
My baby is whining
TC 35D - weird sound
"Alert HST Boomer owners"
Oil leak under trans on TC 29D
Boomer trans noise
Squealing TC 29D
Hydrostatic drive sticking

Didn't want Banjobj to end up with a splitting, leaking squealing, sticking, weird sounding, HST alerting, whining baby!!! Hehehe, Rat....

Re: I still haven\'t decided on my tractor yet. tractor

Banjobj, I had to let Jim know that even the "Mighty New Hollands" have had their moments, some of us are just a little more observant then others. You won't go wrong with any of these tractors. I have driven all of the 3 major brands listed here, and own none of them. New Holland has some great and innovative features, John Deere puts out a great tractor, and as far as Kubota goes, I still contend that no one builds a better engine and hydrostatic drive overall then them. The best thing for you to do is try, try, try. Crawl under the tractor and look at the quality. Test the hydrostatic drives, don't just drive them, go full throttle in high and low and ease the hydro pedal, at idle, stab the hydro pedal and see what you think. In the end, if you decide on getting a tractor, you will feel confident that it was you that decided and not some dogmatic fella that persuaded you, you'll be all the happier. Rat...

Re: I still haven\'t decided on my tractor yet. tractor

Rat,

Just thought that I'd mention that you had to go through 9 pages of the New Holland posts to get your info! I believe that when I got my examples, I only had to look on one or two pages at most. I was just trying to give an example that the Kubota's aren't bulletproof or perfect, in case he equated all of the posting on the Kubota board to that end.

If you reread what I posted, I said that I was pretty sure that I'd be happy with any of the major brands, but I still believe that the TC18 is the best tractor in its class...hands down! The dealer, being great at what they do made the decision even easier.
