I am calling upon you all for your wealth of information.

Here is the situation. I have a Hercules tractor that has a Beyne engine. It is a reverse steer tractor that hosts a 60 inch snow thrower on the 3 point hitch. The complete package works great.

My problem is I have no way to steer the discharge chute on the Buhler Farm King snow thrower. It is set up to move with a hydraulic piston. My problem is there does not appear to be any accessory Hydraulic fittings to hook into a hydraulic cylinder to push or pull the charger and a valve to control the movement. . There are two hoses that run from either side of the transmission case to the pump up front. I am not sure where the fluid tank is but I suspect it is within this transmission case underneath the seat.

The hoses appear to have a round eye with a bolt running through it into this case. Do I install a "T" on each of these hoses to get the necessary hook up I need.

On the very back of this case is a 1" tube with a hex cap but I believe from my reading on various sites this is the drain plug.

Is there anyone out their familiar with Hercules Tractors with the Beyne engine.

Your help will be appreciated. I can send you pictures if that will better help explain the problem. Craig Buscajoia@comcast.net

I'll offer a little advise but I'am not personally familiar with your brand. This is general advise. The oil tank is indeed the transmission housing, use hydraulic/transmission fluid. The pump provides lift for your 3pth, The fitting is called a banjo fitting due to the shape, it has a drilled out bolt with a hole in the side to let the oil flow through. If you take one off and turn over the engine without starting it you can figure out which one is pressure and which is sump. You can most likely safely tee into the pressure side and route to a valve block with a releaf valve then on to the blower, using disconnects in line. For the return oil from the valve I would try to route it back into the transmission housing instead of the line to the pump. This will aid in cooling the fluid so it isn't running from pump to use and back to pump in a short circle and it prevents the pump from sucking against a possible opening in the line should a hose be off and you hit the valve handle. I think this should work but if I have anything wrong it will get corrected with more posts.

I don't know any specifics about your tractor but I can say that most tractors us an "open center" control valve scheme from what I have read.

The general rule is that with open center set ups, you cannot use a tee in the circuit, except in the "return to tank" line.

Open center just means that the control valves are all hooked in a series loop, and when a valve is not being used, the hydraulic fluid from the pump just passes through it to eventually find its way back in the hydraulic tank, to be sucked back into the pump again...

Make sure you understand how the system on your tractor works before you make any modifications. Asking for help here is certainly the way to start!

If you rig up an oil pressure gage, then place it in the system of hyd lines you speak of, you can track down where there is pressure and when. It will help in making your design of how to procede. I did this on several modifications, and it worked well. So well, I left it in the system and could monitor the hyd. pressure from the pump.

I think you have some good general advise so far. You can't really T into an open center hydraulic system without some unexpected problems - like the 3pt arm dropping or some such.

Find out if the machine is open or closed center first.

If it open center, then you need to find a power beyond setup that ties into the hydraulics.

Should be able to plumb a flow divider into pressure line off pump to chute cylinder control valve and tee chute valve return into tank. If you don't have specs or idea how much flow you need, I'd get an adjustable, probably 0-16gpm. Good luck
