I need new speakers for my L3430HSTC

Can I remove the old ones from inside the cab or does the roof have to come off?

Roof comes off simply pull all of the long bolts from inside the cab (10mm head), leave the short bolts in.
You will find once you remove the roof which weighs nothing, everything will be easily accessed and you will soon realize you have zero protection from falling branches in the woods that hit squarely in the center of the roof

My speakers are horrible too.

The factory speakers are junk, i replaced them with a set of kickers, job took 2 hours from start to finish. The audio improvement was amazing!

First thing I changed on my 4240. Installed a pair of pioneer 2 ways because I knew the stock wouldn't handle the head unit I put in. About $30-40 from Amazon, Crutchfield, etc. They do very good for the cost.

I'd like to have them ahead of time. Are they 4" speakers? Top or bottom mount?

I think they were 4" but am not a 100% sure (2 yrs ago). I used a set of polks from crutchfield for about $80. Sound better but not great, hard to get any bass out of something that small. I did not need to remove the roof to swap them out. The factory speakers use nuts & screws which will come loose if you keep pressure outwards as you loosen the screws(which you can collect with a magnet when done) the new speakers will come with clips and screws for install. Shouldn't take take long to do, good luck.
