Hi there everybody.

Earlier this summer, me and my oldest boy visited USA for our first time. And we really liked the country, and wish to spend more time there.
So now, I`ve been watching for a house/appartment. But since I`m not familiar with the "house market" in USA I`m searching for some info.

How is the financial times over there now? Is it a good/bad time for "property shopping"?

I`m planning to use it for holidays only, so I`m also considering the possibilities to rent it out when were not using it. Is it anyone in here who knows anything about this market and possibilities?

Any thoughts would be preciated :D

I'd say its still a good time to buy. Still plenty of homes and seem to be more sellers than buyers so prices are still down along with interest rates. Although some indications that wont last as some markets have seen a rise in prices the first half of 2013 as the low end foreclosures are starting to get flushed out.

What area are you looking at? You can go here and look up specific markets. Not always the best, but could give a start: Real Estate News and Advice For Buyers, Sellers, and Realtors and http://realtytimes.com/rtpages/buyersadvice.htm

What do you do with the renters when you come for a vacation? :)

I`ve mainly been looking around orlando. But the main reason is that the "norwegian" brokers only have that area available.

I dont have any preferences areawise. I would like it to be countrylike, a really small town. With plenty of space. But if I`m going to rent it, it probably should be in a popular city.

I`ll have a look at the links:)

Try the Detroit Michigan area. Real estate is very affordable with many culturally diverse neighborhoods. Bargains abound in this tropical paradise. Fishing, hunting, boating are at your fingertips. A low crime rate makes Detroit a destination vacation spot for everyone. Check it out. You won't be disappointed!

You are kidding right? Tropical Paradise??? Detroit has the highest crime rate in the USA and urban blight is swallowing that city. So many folks are riding the welfare roles the city is nearly bankrupt. Prices are low because the economy has collapsed and no one has a job so lots of empty houses and abandoned factories.
Nearby fishing, boating and hunting is about the only true statement in your post.
