My -used to be invincible - 35 ton Huskee log splitter quit. No longer retracts. Called Huskee, ordered and received the 'O' ring replacement kit for the valve. I've never been in a hydraulic valve before but I ignorantly convince myself, how hard can it be? I lay everything out on a towel as I dismantle. Everything is in order for re-assembly. As I pull the shaft from the valve a 1/4-5/16 ball barring plops on the floor.
I'm at a loss. Where did this thing come from? My best guess is in the end of the shaft where it would a activate the 4 bal bearings exiting the shaft.
Resists reassembly in such fashion.
