I installed my 6' plow into the loader this morning

Well I just finished mounting my 6' donor plow into my loader.
One of the members here at TBN was very kind to donate this plow to my project.

This is the donor.

These are the plates I made to to attach the plow frame in the bucket. The flat plate is fro the bottom side of the bucket.

I cut a piece of pipe to put behind the back lip of the bucket to add strength to support the top chains.

I bolted it all together with grade 8 bolts and tested her out. I should have more snow over the weekend so I'll make a vid.

All I need to do now is change the ballast and I will have a new snow weapon to add to my toy box.

Simple enough design, looks like it doesn't even need a chain.

Your gonna love it. I really like how its set back as deep as possible my setup it more toward the lip. and believe me inches make a big difference in the weight transferee.I think the chain is necessary as there would be a heck of allot of pressure on the rear bracket. Especially with some bouncing.
I'm sure you know some will say some paint and its good to go. LOL

The chain takes some of the load wt. of the plow off the bottom lip of the loader and the pins. It also helps with side to side stresses. The plow actually is pushed by the lower lip of the loader. It buts up to the angle iron on the plow frame.

That's a good design so it's not pushing on the pin mounts, that would eliminate most of the lateral movement.

How about 2 bolts thru the bottom of plow's a-frame and front edge of the bucket to keep it from flipping over backwards, that would further eliminate lat movement and allow you to apply down pressure to the plow blade.

That bucket looks heavy enough, I still don't think the chain is doing much, unless you have a way of tensioning them

When I pick the plow up off the ground you can see the chain get taut. I don't want the wt of the entire plow on the bottom edge of the loader. We are suppose to have a long duration storm over this weekend. I wanted to get the plow mounted to see how it will perform. I will paint and rebuild it this summer. I had mentioned in another post that I had my eye out for a 6' plow blade. One of the other members PMd me and offered me this plow & frame out of the goodness of his heart. It was a very kind thing for him to do. We get some pretty good snow here so all equipment is welcome. I tend to take care of as many people as I can in my neighborhood

Looks nice. I did the same thing years ago on a 1945 Case D1 tractor. I found that snow built up in the bucket and would hold the a-frame off the bottom of the bucket. After a few passes the plow would be pointing up at a 30-45 degree angle. I had to to continually dump the bucket to clear the snow. I ended up moving the mounting point to the front edge of the bucket. It worked much better.

My inital project is a Snow Pusher. I thought I would see how it worked out as a snow plow this winter before I took it apart. I will evaluate the performance over the winter and decide what the future is for this setup. I take care of a few people close by and the plow is the quickest way to deal with them.

Hear is a short video of it in action. It is not heavy at all, It is 6' with no hydraulics. I wanted a plow as lite as possible. It is very easy to turn the plow. There is nothing to hold the plow under the bucket. There is no down pressure from the loader.

Nice job!. Simple setup and effective. I mounted an 8' off my FEL frame with a homemade adapter for use for other frontend attachments. Added front hydraulics this year for angle control. As you mentioned the chain is defintely a must to stabilize the whole setup. I have used it a few times this year and it was great.

Nice project. It appears from your video that lift is not a problem. I would think if it did create a problem then just a lip welded to the frame of the plow would be all you would need. The front edge of the bucket would just position in the lip and hamper any upward movement. I can relate to the trial run during the winter, though. In the Spring you can apply all that has been learned.

Nice job. I used mine in my FEL last year just using 2 C clamps and 2 ratchet straps about like your setup. Worked like a charm. I rebuilt it this year and made it power angel.

Hello Rob, great to hear from you. I was wondering if you were still around in my absence from TBN. You are too kind, my skills are pale compared to yours.

Your home came out beautiful, You and Loretta should be very proud of yourselves. I have actually secured all the funding to put a solar array on my house. I have perfect alignment on my southern exposure. I am waiting out the economy as well as solar development. I see some new options in the very near future. I have a large player in solar near me that I am looking to get involved with.

Hi John, I don't always like the snow, By the end of March I usually have had enough of it. You should hear the silence in a windless snow fall & how clean the world is in a fresh blanket of snow. I love New England, we kind of get the best of both worlds here. It is said here that the day you became an adult is the day snow stopped being fun. I try to still enjoy snow when I can & become a child again for a little while.

Timber, quite some years ago there was a huge hail storm on the ranch. We're talking 4 inch stones which hit the ground and bounced a foot or more. Lasted maybe 15 minutes and when it was over the ground was ankle deep in ice... really! This covered several square miles.

It was summer and soon a fog began to rise from the ice.... the wind died down....talk about spookey.... it went from a completely dark, green sky to sunlight in an hour..... and the SILENCE WAS DEAFENING.....

at least 99% of all birds and insects everywhere had been killed by the hail.... the usual cacophony of summer insect noises and bird song was completely gone ... you don't realize there is all that background noise until there is none. Absolutely none.... I stood and listened..... it was minutes between hearing a single bird sing, or an individual grasshopper make a sound.

That silence was truly awesome
