I just sold my boat and i now have money for a new tractor. (what does that say about an individual!!??).. I've pretty much decided on the bx-24, mostly because of the discussions on this board. I think it will be just the ticket for my 3 acres..I live in north texas, and have no less than 5 dealers i would consider "local", including 2 in oklahoma. I would like to put this order up for bid between all these dealers. I thought i would call each of them, give them the details, let them know this is a competitive situation, then sit back and evaluate the bids as they come in. Would you guys do it like that?

list of details:
bx-24
fel
backhoe
canopy
industrial tires
delivery charges
dealer prep
taxes
total-out the door price

Am i missing anything?
I'll be paying mostly cash
thanks,folks

A trailer to haul it?

good question ,Jim. I have a 5'x10' utility trailer with a 2000 lb. capacity. Without the FEl and BH, would that be adequate to haul it?

That's a good situation to be in. But don't just base a deal on price alone. Consider the long-term as well. You will likely have to have a relationship with the dealer you close the deal with for maintenance, parts, supplies, and helpful suggestions. So make sure you can get along with that dealer. It probably wouldn't go over too well if you buy from one dealer and try to take it to another for maintenance. What if your tractor is totally incapacitated and your dealer has to come and pick it up for repairs? Would that dealer be responsive to do so? So, in summary, take into consideration price, dealer location, and your relationship with the dealer himself. If the dealer is a total @$$ I wouldn't deal with him even if he was the lowest bidder.

Have fun and good luck!:)

I would love to answer your question but I can't, I don't know what yours weighs. I would go heavier instead of being borderline think about bumps and dips in the road and a flat tire? none good. Lots of threads about hauling these things in the "trailers and transportation " section
Good luck with you decision
Jim:)

the Kubota website says it's 1542 lbs. with ROPS, so I'm thinking my utiltity trailer might do.

I don't think so, your weight is minus the weight of your trailer.
And like you say, with ROPS, no bucket or anything else. Ya need a 16 foot tandem axle car hauler or landscape type of trailer to be good and safe and they go for about $1,000 and up and you could sell yours to take up some slack in the price. You will want to haul your attachments.

I would type up a list of options and implements that I want, including part/model numbers where applicable. Then I would make a personal visit to each dealer and chat face to face, give him a copy of my want list and ask for his best price. You will always get a better response with a face to face meeting as the dealer will know that you are serious. Don't be afraid to tell each dealer that you are looking for not only the best price, but the best service after the sale too.

After visiting all the dealers make a spreadsheet of what each has to offer. Add in your "comfort feeling" and make a deal with the best rated dealer.

Good luck.
