Having lots of straps is a good thing. I just ordered 8 more 20' 2" straps with twisted snap hooks from Custom Tiedowns. Clips in easily to the d-rings and makes strapping down by myself easy.

I use my Big Tex 20+5 trailer to haul square bales. It has a stake pocket every 2'. I put a d-ring in every stake pocket but occasionally still have to put an axle strap in the rub rail support in between the stake pockets to get the last strap in the right spot. That happens on a small load, usually they are stacked 4 high with another 40 on the back end like in the last picture.

Speaking of tiedowns, anyone ever seen or used one of these? Apparently self locking under tension, and standard down under, often called a "Swan Hook".
