The inlaws are coming. It's a major event every two years or so preceded by massive home improvement projects. Here's my dilemma:

One of these projects included pushing over a poison ivy-covered black locust tree where my "driveway" exits the woods and the property opens up in front of the house. I'm glad the tree is gone but now I have a barren area about 50' x 30' right in front of the house. The 103 degree heat makes growing anything nearly out of the question (cactii?)

Any suggestions for making newly-cleared land presentable in a hurry?

Thanks in advance.

add bark, make a dry creek bed with a small bridge and maybe a stepping stone pathway through the area to and fro the bridge. Plant a few bushes, shrubs, should look presentable.

Good idea.

I can't convincingly pull off the dry creek bed but some mulch and flagstones would go a long way to making it look presentable.

Thank you.
