I like posting my daily tractor diary on here. Today we took the top half of the roll bar on our L2350 off. It wont fit in the garage. We took it to a friend who has a metal cutting band saw and sawed about an inch and a half off both sides if it. Now when we drive the tractor in the garage. It clears the door by about a quarter of an inch. Hope no one airs the tires up more while it is indoors, we wont be able to get it out.

We also got the manual throttle arm welded back and fixed. She looks BRAND NEW now. If tommorow is halfway decent outside i will pull it out and take some pictures to post. We also had to fold the brush hog wheel up to fit it in the garage. With the loader down, and the brush hog, the tractor is just shy of 20 feet long. Its a beast, i am going to do a little bit of brush hogging when it dries up outside. And then i am going to take off the brushog and put on either a blade, or the box blade.

Oh, does anyone have any ideas about how to make a good scafolding that can go on the front of the loader? I am wanting to use it to stand in, so i can use the chainsaw and cut down some tree limbs. But i need something that will hold about 250lbs. I am not worried about the loader picking up that weight, i am a little worried about the back end of the tractor raising up though..Any ideas??

First suggestion would be scrolling down in the Tractor Safety forum and reading the posts!
Using the bucket in such a manner is not a recommended, nor safe way to cut limbs, particularly with a power saw.
Any alteration of the ROPS voids the warrenty coverage on said ROPS. There have been many posts on this board covering the above topics.

Jeff,
You cut your roll bar and now you want to use the FEL for scafolding while running a chain saw??? /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

wolfman, there was a sight that had pictures of a fella who had built scaffold into his bucket. He had pictures of other things he had done to his tractor as well. I used to have the sight under favorites but guess I erased it. Maybe someone else whose been on this board for awhile will have the web address. Think that fella had used the bucket scaffold to put up a barn.

As to cutting with a chain saw while up in the bucket. A stupid thing to do. However, I do it pretty regularly. If you do choose to cut that way, you just can't be too careful!

As to cutting the ROPs, scruffy is 100% right. But if it wouldn't go in the garage there's not much choice.

ImThWlfMan -

I guess it's moot now, but I had the same problem with the ROPS not fitting through the garage door (like I said, I think our tractors are nearly the same). After researching the safety aspects of modifying the ROPS I decided it was better/smarter/safer to just enlarge the door opening (see attachment).

I just took an inch off the ROPS Bar. Then it slid right back down where it originally went, good and tight. The top of the bar is still a good 6 to a foot above the top of my head. We just took about an inch off of it. As for warranty, we bough it from an individual, so there is no real warranty. I took some pics of the big tractor, along with the little tractor, and man.. That little tractor is sad.

Well i have some work to do. I will check back later..and i have some pics i am going to be posting soon too..
