03 hydro suction screen magnets are not present in the pre filter of trans . My service manual shows them and states "magnets " meaning 2 i suspect . My dealer shows nothing in his parts book and wondering if these magnets are ptresent in all 4400 - 4600 on and on . I would appreciate some feedback on what you have found in your trans and a part # or at least a desription of the length ect.

I have a 1999 JD 4400 hydro and I personally have had the tractor apart 2 different times and been on the inside of the tranny case and mine has no magnets in it,I have never heard of them being in the 4000 series.

I have a 110 and I did not find any magnets in the suction screen either. Do you have the optional hydraulic third selective control valve with diverter. I'm looking for some information regarding operation. I have a new thread posted seeking help. Look for JD 110 Tractor Loader Backhoe in the owner operator forum if you are interested. Bushy

Magnets work. I epoxy small NdFeB magnets in holes I drill in drain plugs and epoxy over them. I've put magnets on screens too.

Used to do it on race engines when I ran them.

I saw a magnet that attaches to the oil filter in a diesel truck magazine, if I can find the ad I'll post tommorrow. The magnet has a radius that covers 1/2 the filter, allowing metal particles to adhere to filter housing.
