Hydro filters on B7500

I am the proud owner of a new (to me) B7500 HSD. As I'm sure most have done with their new toys, I read my owner's manual front to back last evening. First off, I must say that I was a little disappointed in the quality of the info in the manual. Some of the areas covered were about as clear as a Mississippi mud pie! Am I correct in my understanding that the (2) filters near the rear tires are both for the hydraulic system? Is there a front and rear drain plug for the hydro fluid? The manual makes reference to a front plug as well as a rear, but it appears that the front plug is only used on the B7400. Lastly, the owner I purchased from said he had done all the recommended fluid / filter changes except the front axle. The manual says either 80-90 gear oil or Super UDT is acceptable for use in the front axle. Which is better?

First of all, congratulations on your purchase! You won't be disappointed.

Yes there are two hydro filters. left when sitting on tractor is(66021-36060) and right is (67955-37710). There are two drain plugs (17mm wrench size) near mid PTO and drain plug near front left drive shaft (14mm). If you are unsure about the quality of the 50 hour service that was done, then you should do it again (since it is the most important service that the tractor gets). Any questions on how to proceed, just ask.

As far as front axle oil you will get alot of debate on that. Search through the archives and pick your preference.

I would recomend getting a workshop manual and an illustrated parts manual. The later can be download for free from tractorsmart.com.
