It's quite normal for Hydrostatic and hyd's not not want to work for 10 minutes or so in very cold . We start our loaders then go for breakfast .

We've done that too, even cranked up the rpms a bit before going and still nothing when it's that cold. :) I think we let it run for well over an hour or more. I'm hoping we got all the water out of the fluid. We'll find out Sunday or Monday when the cold comes back to Michigan. We're having a heat wave today of 30!

I hope you did not misunderstand what I said. That milky fluid is no good, and will generate more compounds that will harm the hyd system.

If you ran the engine for an hour, you only just emulsified any water in the system.

You have to drain and refill with a suitable fluid for your temps.

Then you have to prevent any water from getting into the hyd system.

Get new filters also.

Hydraulic fluid should be clear in all temperatures So Milky indicates water has mixed where through faulty sealing to the Tank or rams ... Also should be changed Yearly minimum ... As the other writer said also Lighter grade for Colder temps .... Keeping the Reservoir as full as possible to reduce moisture from condensation in side the tank... but allowing some space for expansion of fluid from heating ...
