massey ferguson 148
Hi, this is my 1st thread, please help, I have a Massey Ferguson 148 with the square block on standpipe, the lift with slasher on board will not stay up when tractor is switched off, it will hit the ground within 10 secs, when first started will pick up slasher, after that any other time I have to rev tractor, I have new o rings all round as I have had lift cover off & put new piston in ram, with a mirror & torch with tractor going I cannot see any oil spray or leakage but when I stop tractor again it drops straight down again, do you think pump trouble or releife valve or maybe control valve, what else, any help would more than be appreciated, cheers & I love reading threads Harry

Hi, fixed my problem, it was a control valve O ring in the pump, cheers Harry

Can you tell us how replacing the o-ring in the pump fixed the trouble in the 3pt lift circuit?

Hi J_J, the control valve in the pump has an O ring each side that holds oil in transport or rise & should let it go in dump, the O ring was letting oil through all the time about half of what was being pumped therefor would not hold, new O rings & now 3 point linkage holds, will not go down overnight, small price, big job, but I got there, cheers Harry
