I'm working on my first hydraulics project ever: adding rear hydraulics kit and a grapple to my JD 3038E.

I've been looking for basic primer information on hydraulics systems and theory. I heard the JD service series manual is good, but it's about $60 new. So I found the Vickers Industrial Hydraulics Manual (Vickers Industrial Hydraulics Manual Second Edition 1989: Vickers Inc: Amazon.com: Books) at my library, and it's great. It starts with the very basics and gets into lots of equipment details. The color coded diagrams are really helpful.

Any other recommendations on hydraulics resources online or otherwise?

Thanks in advance.

John Deere has Fundamentals of Service books. There is one titled Hydraulics. The one I have is from 1992. I assume there are newer aditions out now.
