I have this most annoying issue with the control cables freezing up. Especially on our open station JD 6200. Can they be successfully removed and lubricated or is replacement, generally the only option? I suspect they got wet and are probably slightly rusted internally.

Problem is usually getting the lubrication to the point where they are binding. Companies used to and possibly still do made cable lube that was used on speedometer cables, etc. This lube seemed to help repel moisture and stayed reasonably fluid in colder temps. WD40 is also a water displacing fluid but it seems to get tacky over time.

Its probably moisture in the control valve cups. Lots of info on this in search function?
