I’m going to admit my ignorance of hydraulics .
I was warming up my 450C and was going through blade
operations and when I tilted the blade to the right, a hose blew out and sprayed fluid around.
My question is this: If I don’t use the tilt function will I be able to move the dozer out of the woods without continuing to lose fluid from the damaged hose?

In theory if you do not do any blade operations that include that blown hose, it should not leak fluid as control valve theoretically has hose connection shut off....

Other option may be to remove blown hose from valve and put a plug in place of blown line till you can get tractor into shop and replace hose or replace hose in field...

It probably won’t be blasting out but I bet it pukes some oil.

I think it will depend on the hydraulics in the dozer. If the valve shuts that circuit off completely, then it won't dump fluid. But if it normally maintains pilot pressure, it will continue to spray. My excavator aux hydraulics spray regardless of operating mode - I unfortunately know.

Capping off the line would be my first choice if you have or can get caps.

You can also fire it up and see, perhaps directing the hose into a container while testing.

Otherwise you will need to remove the hose, get a replacement, and reinstall in the woods.

However you fix it, the other hoses are probably worth a close inspection. If one blew, others may not be too far behind.

Probably similar to the way my 350 was, yes I could operate it without using the tilt and not loose much fluid.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have not yet tried to locate which hose it is as there are 4 hoses bundled together and the whole area is dripping with fluid. I’ll get around to testing after I finish my logging operations. Thankfully I can do most of the work with my tractor.

It depends on control valve features. If the tilt has anti- cavitational check valves or work port relief with anti-cav feature it could flow oil. Without that feature it would potentially spray it force on blade caused the cylinder to move.
