If you replace the {....}with [...] in the above you get this:

I'm not sure why, but the folks on TBN use this a lot to quote a prior post. When in TBN do as the TBN's do /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

When you are writing your posts, there is a link at the top of the page which explains all of the various markups you can use. You can also use a markup to make a link to another URL, like this: use markup in your posts
